The Koryu Way
Forget the flash of combat sports. It’s time to get old school. The Koryu Way (Koryu in Japanese means old school) explores how traditional martial arts have not only remained relevant but continue to evolve with the times, moving far beyond mere fighting. We delve into the techniques, history, and philosophy of different martial arts systems, and speak to current practitioners, returning to a look at the true purpose of martial arts: self-defense, inspiring change, and promoting better health. Let us inspire your inner warrior and healer.

About the Author
Ramon’s lifelong passion for martial arts began with a single movie: Bruce Lee’s Enter The Dragon. That fascination, sparked while he was living in Iran, led him to his first class in Kan Zen Ryu Karate at age six. After moving to the UK, he dedicated himself to the art of Ki Aikido for five years. His journey continued with explorations into Feng Shou Kung Fu, Lee Style Tai Chi, Taekwondo, and Kickboxing before he found his way back to Aikido, training with Sensei Michael Narey where he earned the rank of 2nd Kyu. Ramon now trains in Goju Ryu Karate with the Daigaku Karate Kai under Shihan Dan Lewis. Beyond his own practice, Ramon is a big fan of martial arts legends like Chee Soo, Tadashi Yamashita, Cynthia Rothrock, Chuck Norris, and Rickson Gracie to name a few. As a writer and author, he spends his time honing his craft, hitting the trails for a run or hike, and perfecting his Japanese counting skills.
